The YSR Congress Chief Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy (JMR) seems to be in the lime light for both the right and wrong reasons the last one year. The young MP had very brief moment to grieve over his father’s death, late former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Y S Rajasekhara Reddy (YSR). Soon after the former CM’s death, JMR was smitten by the power bug, which turned his friends into foes. The long time associates who had once earned favors because of his acquaintance turned their fist against him. But on the other hand the party which had come to power because of single handed efforts of his father, also turned against the young Kadapa MP. His only pillar of support was his mother.
The Central Bureau of Investigations is already day in and day after him and his associates. First they arrested the Jagathi Publication’s Vice-Chairman, Vijay Sai Reddy (VSR). Sources feel that the kingpin in the misappropriation of funds by the Jagan and co was very clever manipulator, based on the reports published in the Telugu daily Eenadu.
Ever since the CBI intensified its action there seems to be never ending war of words between the two media houses in the print media, namely Eenadu and Sakshi. Both of them pricking each other’s back and the main page is dedicated to the exposure of the contemporary.
Eenadu suggested that 16 companies funded the Jagan’s group. The report also suggests that these could be the kick backs received during the rule of the late YSR. And the magazine also went on spilling the connections of Brother M Anil Kumar, an evangelist and son-in-law of late YSR, in Bayyaram mines. Sakshi on the other hand was no where behind, it threw a tickler, how a man (Ramoji Rao), who sold pickles on a cycle three decades ago, was able to become the richest in the state. Sakshi also questioned about the investments of Reliance in Eenadu group, which till day were not discussed.
With the arrest of Mr. Vijay Sai Reddy, there were speculations that next would be JMR. VSR was supposed to be the main evidence to ploy against JMR, but he is unlikely to spill any beans. Protagonists say that there is nothing for VSR to say since JMR is not involved, while others comment that VSR is a tough nut to crack. Next in the line is another close aid of JMR, Sunil Reddy was arrested. The CBI had filed its remand report recently but there is nothing alarming for the young leader.
